What to get the men in your life...

Ever thought about buying your husband a book for Christmas? I know it's close to the big day, but I decided to throw some heavily male books (which means that lots of females will like them too, because, statistically speaking, women will read male books but males will not read female books; whatever that means...) your way just in case you still hadn't found everything for the men in your life.

I've already told you about Kenneth Oppel (This Dark Endeaver, Airborne), and I've already told you about P.W. Catanese and the Happenstance Found series. And do you remember the Phillip Reeve series I told you about? Fever Crumb? The sequel is out (my copy hasn't come in from the library yet), but I loved, loved the first one. And it is serious, jammed-packed, boy-style adventure. I know I've told you about Jonathan Stroud and Bartimaeus, but I will tell you again. I will even get you a picture of the prequel, his newest part of the series (awesome!).

I also love his viking tale, Heroes of the Valley:

If the guy in your life likes history, I read the most incredible book:
Truce: the day the fighting stopped by Jim Murphy. The most amazing story, and such a great, easy read.

Also, if you have a nonfiction buff, consider getting a Candace Fleming Biography:

Product DetailsAmelia Lost: The Life and Disappearance of Amelia Earhart The Lincolns: A Scrapbook Look at Abraham and Mary Our Eleanor: A Scrapbook Look at Eleanor Roosevelt's Remarkable LifeBen Franklin's Almanac: Being a True Account of the Good Gentleman's Life
And while I'm at it, I'll go off topic and just recommend her picture books in general. My favorites include:
When Agnes Caws
When Agnes Cawes
A Big Cheese for the White House: The True Tale of a Tremendous Cheddar
A Big Cheese for the White House
Tippy-Tippy-Tippy, Hide!
Tippy, Tippy, Tippy Hide

And back to those males in your life, I have one more author to recommend, Nancy Farmer. She's an amazing science fiction writer (and I am not hugely into Sci Fi by any means). Three of my favorites of hers include:
The Ear, the Eye and the Arm
The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm.

The Sea of Trolls (this is a trilogy).

If you have any more emergency questions before Christmas, let me know. Really soon, I will post a picture of the books my family is getting for Christmas. I think we're going to have a book scavenger hunt...
