Never Fear Beanboy is here.
That was really lame. I apologize. But seriously, here is a great book with serious series potential you should check out for your child who still likes a lot of pictures in his (or her) books.
The Adventures of Beanboy by Lisa Harkrader
Calvin loved this book. Shaemus loved this book. We were all taking peeks. Laughing. Then taking more peeks. Look at that cover! Clearly, this is something a kid would love to read about. Nerd by day. Superhero that can double in size if given enough water by night.
Perfect. (In a beany sort of way.)
Also, please do not forget about this series. I am constantly astonished by the lack of people who have read these books. They've seen the movie, and they generally liked it, but they haven't read the books. How is this possible? I don't know. The movie is good. The books are very different, but they are good too. Great even.
We just finished number nine. I read the whole thing aloud to my kids, and I will say it is the only series I have ever read aloud to my kids and gotten past book three. It was awesome. I am going to post every picture of the covers to encourage you. (WARNING: I have heard that the movie can make the books less satisfying. Just pretend that the movie has nothing to do with the books. That they are a completely different story, and you would pretty much be right.)
