Here are six books to try for summer. Unusual. Not the same old same old, and in the best kind of way.
Little White Duck: A Childhood in China by Andres Vera Martinez
This is a graphic novel memoir written just for kids. It is beautiful and interesting and un-put-downable (I just made that word up).
Who Says Women Can't Be Doctors? by Tanya Stone
A great history of Elizabeth Blackwell, one of the first women doctors.
Poems to Learn by Heart by Caroline Kennedy
This collection is amazing. I would probably be a much better person if I had each of these memorized. Maybe I should try that...
The Mighty Lalouche by Matthew Olshan
Beyond fascinating!
The Voyage by Veronica Salinas
You couldn't get more simple or perfect.
Black Flame by Gerelchimeg Blackcrane
Black Beauty meets Wild Fang. Wow.
Okay, can I just tell you how much I love your blog? I discovered it a couple of weeks ago, and I am so excited to have found one that provides such varied and interesting book recommendations!
ReplyDeleteI love Caroline Kennedy's other collection of poems, and I'm looking forward to perusing the new collection that you recommend here (along with all the other books listed in this post). Thanks! I'll be back:)
