The Box

I've opened one of the boxes and taken a count.

Thirty-three books.

Three of them are paperbacks. Thirty of them are hardbacks. All for $24.95.

Please excuse these pictures. Our camera isn't functioning and I don't have a smart phone and Sam is out of town with his smart phone so these pictures were taken with photo booth on my computer. Um, not so great. But I wanted to show you the size of the box so you can get an idea.

Here is the box from a side view:

Do you see how it's taped up like that? The flaps are pushed up and they tape some paper over the top. (That's my dog, unwilling to get out of the way for this fantastic picture.)

That's the box with the flap torn down and novels spilling out as they were stuffed around the picture books.
Here is the box from the top. See those twenty-six picture books, all but one hardcover?
Here is the stack of novels.

And here is a random sampling of a few of the books in the box:

This perhaps the most amazing of all. On Amazon this book is twenty-five bucks. It contains the original Shrek story (what the movie is based on) and five other Steig books including The Amazing Bone and other greats. I bought this for ten dollars a few years ago at a Scholastic Warehouse sale, thinking it was a smashing deal, and here it is, part of Build-A-Box, essentially costing less than a dollar!

I'm so enthused about this, I think I'll spend the rest of the month posting Christmas gift ideas. And I have two other boxes to go through and show you more treasures—but with a better camera...

  1. Oh boy, you had WAY better luck than me. I went to the sale at a hotel, not at the warehouse. Big mistake. I should have taken the 10 extra minutes to get to the warehouse.

  2. Wow! You got a great deal.
...I've never heard of one of these sales before. I wonder if they have them out here...
